2017 Travel Goals: 5 Things to do and Places to visit in Iceland

Winter is travel planning time! Well in Iceland it’s also time to see gorgeous snowy landscapes but I can’t wait to explore these new places too! Here are my top 5 Things to do and Places to visit in Iceland travel goals!

1. The Highlands of Iceland

So now it’s winter and the roads up in the Highlands are closed but as soon as they open I will be getting my ass up there to see gorgeous places like this.

What’s our place in all of this? I’m still trying to figure it out myself.

2. Arctic Fox

Ok so it’s not really a place but I really want to see more than just these guys’ footprints in the snow! I saw one in Greenland but the little blighter scampered off before I could take a photo.

3. Vatnajökull Glacier and Ice Caves

I’ve stood on ice, swam with ice, went into the permafrost but I’ve never been in an ice cave so that’s a definite must!

4. See more Northern Lights

It seems that I’m living in the rainest part of Iceland and it’s been unseasonably warm and wet for the last few months, but next year I’m definitly going to make more of an effort to get out and see the Aurora Borealis.

5. Skógar Trail

So if the Laugavegur Trail gets too busy there is also the less travelled two day Skógar Trail that links up with it from the south. This is a definite hiking goal of mine for 2017.
