I love Instagram. It’s the one form of social media where I don’t have to see people’s dinners or babies or whatever, unless I actually want to. What I love about is is that I can research destinations, see locations, angles to shoot, time of day etc or just daydream about my next trip on the commute home. There are almost half a billion (yes!) Instagram users, so why not take a look at my particular favourite travel photographers to follow on Instagram to get you started?
There is always something that keeps you coming back. For me it’s these Rivers. I became obsessed with their beautiful braided shape and color when seeing them from an airplane window. Now 8 years later it’s a full blown obsession. 23 trips to Iceland and thousands of dollars spent on flights to document them has been worth every second. ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ I have been lucky to work closely with Halendid – Iceland National Park (halendid.is) to help promote their preservation by establishing a national park in the Highlands. Maybe someday they will inspire you too.

Stetind, Tysfjord. Norways National Mountain. Well deserved, it’s a beautiful piece of this country! _______ #landscapesofnorway #igworldglobal #thebestofnorway #igscandinavia #DreamChasersNorway #exceptional_pictures #longexpoelite #ic_longexpo #nightphotography_exclusive #theworldshotz #wu_norway #landscapesofnorway #marvelshots #earth_shotz #ilovenorway #ic_landscapes #landscapephotomag #world_beautifulshots #norgefoto #longexpoelite #igworldclub_landscape #landscapecaptures #worldmastershotz #northernnorway #global_beautiful_pictures #mittnorge #featured_by_peter #mittnordnorge #unlimitedscandinavia #got_hdr #nordicphotos
Of course this doesn’t cover half of the people I follow to get new ideas and not included on this list are National Geographic and it’s travel magazine National Geographic Travel; guide books such as Lonely Planet and Lonely Planet Traveller, the Rough Guide and Bradt. But don’t forget to check out destination tourist boards. My favourites include ILoveGreenland, Tourism Ireland, Mitt Norge, Visit Faroe Islands, and Visit Scotland. That is so many more than five really isn’t it?!
